Interactive Descriptive Writing

The premise of the project was to create a scary spud and write a description of the spud. Their partner class then would recreate it, coming as close to the original as possible. 

We first created our spud on  The students then typed a descriptive paragraph using Google Docs. They chose their partner and shared the descriptive paragraph with a 5th and 4th grade class at the Elementary South Campus. The students at Elementary North recreated the spud in KidPix, a graphic software, using the partner group's description.  We compared the two spooky spuds to see how accurate the descriptions were via Google Hangouts.

We asked the questions: How are the two spuds alike? How are they different? What did you leave out of your description that you should have included?  

The best descriptive writers were the ones with the most similar spuds.
